Green Party Candidate
for Mayor of St. Paul

What Has Elizabeth Done for You Lately?

Elizabeth Dickinson for Mayor…
A Mayor for people who breathe

If you've ever been concerned about the quality of the air you and your children breathe, you should know that Elizabeth Dickinson has been working for the last six years to protect you from air pollution.

She's been a member, and then a Co-Chair, of the Environment Committee of the West Side Citizens Organization (WSCO, the District 3 Council), where she volunteered over a thousand hours of her time to get a cleanup of the High Bridge coal-fired power plant — and its companion plants, Riverside in Minneapolis and Allen S. King near Stillwater. She's also served on the Air Toxics/Clean Air Committee of the North Star Chapter of the Sierra Club, for which she traveled all over the metro area giving educational presentations on the need to end the pollution from coalburning. And she's served for three years as a boardmember of Clean Water Action, a long-established group that works effectively on a wide variety of water-related environmental issues.

She was a founder and leading light of Clean Energy Now!, a coalition of groups that helped persuade Xcel Energy to propose its current Metro Emissions Reduction Project — a nearly-unprecedented plan that will replace High Bridge with a clean-burning, natural-gas-fired plant; will also repower Riverside to natural gas; and will install the best available pollution-control technology at A. S. King.

Local activists in St. Paul tried for years to clean up the High Bridge plant. Elizabeth, building on their efforts, made it happen. That's one reason why she's one of the Twin Cities most deeply respected citizen activists.
